Barradoo Harriet (Ariat) is by Karana Digby out of Karana Oz, who were both imported to the US from Kevin Howell in Australia. Ariat is an easy going dog that we use primarily for breeding with some light work thrown in as she is the last of the females we have out of the Digby x Oz cross.

Ariat is a pleasure to be around and wants to work every time we let her out of the kennel. Ariat is the same breeding as Bugga (Bug), who we have bred three times with exceptional litters. Unfortunately, we had to spay Bug due to medical issues with pregnancy. Bug is now in the every day working string. Hence, Ariat has become our Karana girl we go to for breeding.

Ariat’s pedigree will show you some of the best working Kelpies found in Australia., with several National Champions including Karana Duke, Karana Seiko and Karana Abba II. We have found that pups which carry these lines take to training very readily and tend to be easy to handle, with a great desire to please. All of the dogs we have out of the Digby x Oz breeding are extremely personable, with the conformation and instinct to work well at high altitude to cover the mountain country in which we work cattle.
