BLACK AND TAN FEMALE
Born: April 9, 2012
Bred by: George Walker, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada
We purchased “Tilda” as pick of the litter (Doss-Tex Gus IV x Doss-Tex Lassie) from George Walker, who we have known for several years. We have followed his breeding program and stock dog field trial success across Canada. George makes an annual trip to Australia to see his son in Queensland and knows many of the top breeders and their Kelpie bloodlines throughout that country. George has worked closely with Tony Parsons (author of four books on training and breeding Australian Kelpies) and obtained some of Tony’s Karrawarra bloodlines to infuse into his program in Canada. The Karrawarra dogs have proven throughout the world that they are top class dogs and are therefore found in many pedigrees, regardless of whether the owners use them on sheep or cattle.
We wanted to include a female with this background to complement our current group of Burradoo Ranch breeding Kelpies. We had the opportunity to watch George work both of Tilda’s parents in farm and field trial situations which made the decision to include a pup from his breeding program for our ranch.
Tilda is a very athletic Kelpie that stands 22” at the shoulder and exhibits the strength and stamina we need here in Montana when working cattle in the mountains surrounding our ranch. She is showing many of the Karrawarra traits we wanted in working both sheep and cattle.
Tilda has produced consistently good pups sired by Muster, Deuce and Jackaroo. We have incorporated in our breeding program three of Muster x Tilda pups: Burradoo Ishone, Burradoo Stone, and Burradoo Sport III.
Spud Murphy, 92 years young and a great friend to the Myttons, is holding Burradoo Rightyo (Burradoo Muster x Redwheel Waltzn Matilda), a pup who was on his way to his new owner in Colorado. Spud is a World War II veteran who flew Corsair fighter planes in the South Pacific in many historic battles against the Japanese. After the war, he managed several of the biggest cattle and sheep ranches in Wyoming, including the Kendrick Cattle Company and Warren Livestock.
